B.Tech - Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is a division of engineering which is concerned with the building, designing, planning and maintenance of the material and naturally built surroundings.Amongst all branches of engineering, the variety and scope of civil engineering is the wideand larger. It is one of the oldest engineering disciplines. It deals with the built environment andcan be dated to the first time someone placed a roof over his or her head or laid a tree trunkacross a river to make it easier to get across. The credit of creating entire infrastructural framework of a modern nation goes to civil engineers.

Civil Engineering is perhaps the most resourceful branch among all the engineering branches. It is the branch with a lot of multiplicity. It can be considered as a single largest branchamongall the engineering branches.

Field of civil engineering which includes: EngineeringMechanics, Building Construction, Surveying andLeveling, Strength of Materials, Theory of Structures, Concrete Structures, Steel Structures,Fluid Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Airport Engineering,Docks and Harbor Engineering, Tunnel Engineering, Water Resources Engineering and Construction Management.

A civil engineer requires not only a high standard of engineering knowledge but also supervisory and administrative skills. Civil engineers work in teams or in coordination with many other engineers.
